Honorable mention for the first Dead Kennedys single.  The original lyrics for California Über Alles were written by John Greenway and performed by The Healers on February 9, 1978 on the CU campus in Boulder with Eric Boucher (Jello Biafra) on vocals.  Biafra later modified the lyrics and set them to music to become one of Dead Kennedys earliest and best known songs. When Biafra was visiting home in Boulder in 1978, he mentioned that he was looking for a name for a new band he was forming. Local musician and writer, Mark Bliesener (Radio Pete) suggested Dead Kennedys, a name he came up with a couple years earlier. Mark wrote and recorded two songs in June, 1976 for his Dead Kennedys concept, both of which can be heard on Rocky Mountain Low.

The first improvisational version of California Über Alles, recorded in February, 1978 is included on Rocky Mountain Low.
