Wax Trax

Wax Trax Records
Grand Opening Party
July 2, 1977

Grand opening party for the current Wax Trax location on the corner of 13th and Washington. Wax Trax was probably the first record store in CO to carry any punk records and, along with Trade A Tape in Boulder, and the Peaches in Westminster it was one of the only places in the late 70s to carry punk. Of all the Colorado record stores in the 1980s, Wax Trax had, hands-down, the best selection of import and domestic punk (& industrial, new wave, whatever) records. Original owners Jim and Danny sold the store to its current owners in late 1978 and moved to Chicago where they opened what ended up being the more famous Wax Trax records and, eventually, record label.
